Friday 7th June 2013 - All Aboard the Rocky Mountaineer

The alarm was set to wake us early. A quick breakfast at the hotel was unnecessary as we got another cooked breakfast on the train after departing Vancouver for Whistler.

The kids practiced tooting the train's horn before we left on the Sea to Sky Climb.

Through the glass roofed carriage, the scenery was spectacular as we meandered along the coastline then headed skyward. With a drink in hand, we travelled in style. A little shopping along the way and David had a new coat!

We arrived at midday to find the town was buzzing with mountain-bikers as they caught the chairlift up and raced down the trails to the Village common. At least they clean their own bikes afterwards.

We met up with Trev at the end of the day(one of David's buddies from the cycle shop in Melbourne) and also met his mate Mike. Beer and nachos were on the menu with more G&T for Cathy.

The afternoon's entertainment was Ziplining across ravines and through the treetops on a series of 5 ziplines. David got stuck midway on one and had to be rescued!! (All part of a set up really, so Sandy could practice her rescue technique)

Once again, David pointed out the bear to keep Cathy safe - this time it lured her into a chocolate factory for a snickers covered granny smith apple.
