To Broome - Day 3 - Woomera to Marla
Woke up early. Packed up in the dark and hit the road. Glendambo was just over 100k up the road and I remember having a great bacon and egg sandwich there many years ago. Had my normal travelling breakfast - cereal and banana, a glass of juice, 2 coffees. Whoops, no room for bacon and egg sandwiches. Save that one for later.
Arrived in Coober Pedy around lunchtime. Fill the Troopy with fuel, and headed to the supermarket. Wandered around - Post Office, Hardware store, Whitegoods - No supermarket. It's moved!! Actually, it's much bigger now. Good range of items and a coffee shop inside.
I fired up the Google machine to find myself a nice coffee shop. OK - Waffle and Gems Rated 4.7 and only 50m away. What a beauty!!
Obviously, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Belgian waffles. This should be good - I just got back from Belgium. Just as Guiness is worse the further you are from Dublin, we are a long way from Belgium. They were OK but I was expecting 4.7/5.0 waffles. Maybe they were rating the coffee? Well, we are a long way from Columbia - but obviously just across the road from Nescafe!!!
The planned overnight was Cadney Homestead. I arrived at 3pm, grabbed a Coke and an ice cream and continued on. Marla is it. Tomorrow is 80km shorter ;)

Thanks David, for all your informative observations on travelling along the highway northwards. We should be warned about coffee stops, and other delicacies, but glad you made it to the Alice and met Frank. Nice to see a friendly face and someone who knows the out back, too.
Glad I found the right switch inside the front door, and Barbara is, too!!
Hope you find the Tanami bearable and not too rough. Sorry about the bike punctures but ..... You'll have Cathy as a consultant soon!! Lots of good wishes as you venture into the internet free zone. Look forward to the next instalment. Mother Mary
