How we blogged our trip...



Set up accounts at 2 free services:

www.flickr.com - For photo storage.
www.blogger.com - For the blog itself.

Blogger.
1) Register your blog
2) Settings
- Basic . Set title, subtitle etc
- Publishing. Set the Blogspot address eg home42.blogspot.com
- Site Feed. So people can use RSS reader.
- **** Email Set Mail-to-Blogger address . This allows you to update your blog using email. Useful of you cannot access a computer that can use Flickr.
- There are many other options you can set. eg We changed background colour.

Flickr.

1) Sign up - Note free account has a limit of 200 photos on display and limited uploads (20MB/month)
2) Set Account settings - Blogs. Add your blog here.
3) There are several ways to upload photos.
- Follow links from your Flickr homepage.
- Use upload tools (Very useful!!) - Allows drag and drop uploads with multiple photos at once.

Other useful tools.
Image resizer - We resized all our images down to fit 800x600 using XP powertool.

OK. How we blogged.

i) Load photos onto laptop. Select a favorite for each day, edit if required, RESIZE. Rename photo to include date (it helps later)
ii) Use tool to upload
iii) Check photos in Flickr. Hit OK, no need to add comments in flickr.
iv) For each blog post you need to
- Open the photo for the day
- Click on BLOG THIS (just above photo), Select your blog
- We generally set the title as the Day and Date, Thursday 16th August. But it can be anything.
- Entry blog text.
- Hit Post Entry.
- Your done.

Hint: if you are doing multiple days - post the oldest ones first....blog always displays Newest entry to Oldest entry.

Go and check your blog. You can "Edit Posts" by logging into blogger.com if it doesn't look quite right (but if usually no problem)
