Monday 30 June

A slow trip through Maitland and Singleton. It is quite hilly as we pass through the Great Dividing Range before it flattens out just before Dubbo. We had a sensational lunch at Village Bakery (Curry Pies all around, choc donuts, etc). It wasn’t long before the ground turned red as we headed into the outback for a night at Cobar.

Sunday 29 June

Up early for a walk down the valley rim – mainly to get warm (approx 3 degrees). Then off to Newtown to drop Russell off. I made my way across Sydney to see Tom and his girlfriend, Em. Tom has been doing work experience at several studios. Filled with Diesel at $1.899/litre before heading to Newcastle to met John and Suze. It was Suze’s birthday so I shared my Choc-Orange Tim Tams with her.

Saturday 28 June

Leave home at 6.15am to pick Russell up at 6.30am. It’s an easy trip up the Hume Hwy. Morning tea at Benalla (Curry Pies....YUMMM) then lunch somewhere in NSW. We collect some beers from Goulburn before heading out to the Bungonia State Conservation Area. Russell had been many years ago to do some caving. We had a quick visit to some lookdowns (normal people call them lookouts) before dark. It got very cold very quickly so we hid inside the troopy.
