Singapore to Siem Reap
Singapore airport is a city in itself with beautiful gardens and expensive shops. It was exciting to arrive in Cambodia for my first visit. A lovely taxi driver took me to my hotel and answered my questions along the way. The staff at the hotel welcomed me warmly into a comfortable room by the pool. I caught up with other instructors who'd been to Siem Reap before and we explored the main city centre. I was relieved to find a great coffee shop in the Kandal district and got a delicious barista brewed coffee ☕️.
We had a marathon faculty meeting preparing for the APLS instructor course and meeting our Cambodian fellow instructors.
I managed dinner at "Nest" but didn't make it to the night markets. We quickly stopped at the supermarket as we walked home from dinner and saw all sorts of meat in the meat fridge- including frogs 🐸.
Saturday 16th December
Started in Melbourne and headed for Singapore. Great to be in tropical warmth and explore the night lights around Marina Sands. I saw the Merlion, the light show and walked across the Helix bridge to the enormous shopping centre with designer shops. I managed not to buy anything except pay for taxi fares.
