Run Melbourne for Monash Children's

It was a perfect morning for a run- not too hot, not too cold and not too windy. Cathy met up with other runners from Monash to complete the 10km run. I was delighted to be able to raise over $1000 for Monash Children's to buy cardiac monitors for children. I was impressed that even our CEO, Shelley Park, and her husband David were running with us.

The atmosphere was great and I ran a lot faster than I expected. David, my number one supporter, did not disappoint - taking photos, cheering and making sure I had a long sleeve top to put on afterwards. He even helped out with retail therapy at the merchandise stands.

Monash Childrens won another $1000 for the greatest number of participants in our corporate category. Shelley accepted the prize. Thank you to all those who sponsored me - I really appreciate it. Our team raised over $25000!

Paediatric grand rounds

Every week at Monash Children's we have a grand round. On Thursday 14th July, it was the General Paediatric team presenting. Realising it was Bastille day, they added a French flavour to the presentation! Thanks to Chris, Cara and Bec.

Pasta making with helpers

In medicine, we often learn through the "See one, do one, teach one" technique. Cathy learned to make pasta a few months ago and has practised a couple more times, so it was time to teach Brianna and Joel how to make fettucini.

The kids loved it though Joel got bored after awhile and thought Cathy's iPad games were more interesting.

Working together again

Cathy loves organising things so she got herself back onto the Paediatric Scientific Program Committee for the College of Paediatrics. At their meeting in Sydney on Friday 8th July, she caught up with Honey Heussler who is the Brisbane rep for the 2012 meeting next May. Honey and Cathy trained together at Monash back in 1996 and it was lovely to be working together again.
